Basher Bangers
Panacea Radio Presenter
Basher Bangers is a veteran soul broadcaster with a career spanning more than four decades. His introduction to soul music and broadcasting began in the late 1970s at a popular South Manchester nightclub called The Sandpiper, where he first connected with like-minded music lovers and fellow DJs.
One of Basher’s most memorable early experiences was helping Mick Hucknall (later of Simply Red) discover the original version of the classic track “Money’s Too Tight to Mention,” exemplifying his deep roots in the scene and passion for uncovering great music.
Over the years Basher has worked with numerous radio stations and shared studio time with legendary figures such as Richard Searling, Mike Shaft and Greg Wilson. He has built a body of work that reflects both depth of knowledge and a genuine love for soul music in all its forms, spanning classic sounds and contemporary grooves.
Basher remains deeply involved in the community today, regularly attending soul events and contributing to music culture whenever he can. His broadcasts on Panacea Radio are rich with experience, passion and a respect for the music that has defined generations.
